Car Sleepers
Filed under: Baby Sleep, Toddler Sleep
My daughter, Kenya, always falls asleep in her carseat. I can't go anywhere without her dozing off - no matter the time of day! I suppose, in some ways, it's good - I don't have to deal with crying! - but it's not like she isn't well rested (because she is, of course!). Thankfully, her little catnaps in the car don't affect her bedtimes. This isn't always the case with kids who fall asleep in the car. I hear from a lot of parents who have kids that will "only" fall asleep in the car for naps - the car has become their sleep crutch. It is a solveable problem, with some training.
Isn't she adorable?
Do your babies / toddlers fall asleep in the car? Does it affect naps or bedtimes?
For those of you keeping track, my pregnancy is going along well. Having a lot of back pain. Soon going in for a maternity photo shoot - so stay tuned for those pictures!

For a long time, I wouldn't go near a car with the kids if I thought they might fall asleep because it would destroy their naps and bedtime routines. Now that my 3.5 yo doesn't really nap... it's great if he nods off for 15 minutes in the car... we actually TRY to get it to happen (drive right after lunch etc) cause it gets him thru the day a little better.... Funny how things all come full circle!
