Routine and Food Introduction e-book

Today I'm happy to launch my first e-book: Introducing Solids & Routine Guide. This sample guide will help parents with the gradual introduction of solid foods for babies from 4-6 months with routien guides for children age 3 years old.

The e-book includes example routines for different age segments, food introduction information, and what you should know about solids. The guide is based on information I've collected as a parent, my 13 years as a nanny and the many years spent as a parenting coach with Cheeky Chops Consulting.

Routine is very important for children to help set their body clocks, which is important for sleep, and to keep their blood sugar levels stable throughout the day. If you can balance sleep and food for your child, you'll have a happy baby. Happy babies make for happy parents - so have fun experimenting with solids!

Introducing Solids will show you:

  • Signs your child is ready for solids
  • What to expect when introducing solids
  • Foods to avoid during the first year
  • Dealing with constipation
  • What to introduce and when
  • Daily feeding routines for 4-5 months, 5-6 months, 6-9 months, 9-12 months, 12-18 months, 18months - 3 years
  • Making your own baby food
  • Serving and storing baby food

As parents have come t0 expect from Cheeky Chop Consulting, all feeding guides include daily schedules with suggested nap times and bedtimes and suggested intake of breastmilk / formula or milk after 1 year. Each page highlights tips and tricks to make the introduction of solids a fun activity for the whole family.

The Introducing Solids e-book can be purchased here for $10.99

Share Your Sleep Deprivation Story!

Adam Mansbach obviously had enough sleep-deprived nights to write the now controversially popular Go the F** to Sleep kids book parody, and given its instand sales success, it hit the mark with fellow sleep deprived parents. So, I'd like to ask... what crazy or funny stories do you have from your days as a sleep deprived parent?

Here's an old clients of mine:

"I tried to breastfeed my husband's arm one night, thinking that it was the baby!"

I'm looking for funny sleep deprivation stories as inspiration, so please do share your stories!

Back to Work Thanks to the PumpEase

Hendrix is nearly 2 months old and I'm back at work helping other parents with their own children. Many of you wonder how this is possible. I'll share with you! It's thanks to the PumpEase!

Hendrix sleeps well, thanks to some early sleep tips I shared in our Newborn Sleep Guide. Though originally breastfed, I couldn't get back to work and breastfeed at the same time. However, Hendrix continues to receive breastmilk in his bottle. The only way this has been possible in my busy day, with a newborn and two other kids, is thanks to the PumpEase.

I can go on my laptop or call on the phone using the PumpEase bra. The openings in front stretch to fit any kind of pump and you can pump one side at a time or both at once. The bra fits comfortably and is even stylish! Because I'm not focused watching the milk flow, I can stay relaxed while pumping and also get stuff done.

I call the PumpEase my "lifesaver", and that it is! Whether you use it to get back to work, or to help you boost your milk supply in those early days, the bra takes the tedium out of pumping.

If you want to give the PumpEase a try, use coupon code cheeky15 to get 15% off your purchase at www.pumpease.com!

Raising A Gender-Neutral Child

I recently read an article by Amy Molloy, writer for Grazia magazine, who interviewed a mother who is purposefully not telling people the gender of her child. She is choosing to raise that child, Charlie, as "gender neutral."

According to Dr. Cordelia Fine, in her book Delusions of Gender, there is no link between society’s gender-based differences and biology. Charlie's mom, in this case, agrees that there is "no convincing evidence that male and female brains are hard-wired according to gender." And she's willing to try this social experiment on her child. To allow Charlie to wear both girl and boy clothes and to play with toys ranging from dolls to cars.

"Critics say it's a form of child abuse - that Charlie will grow up confused and lacking identity - but to me, it is incredibly liberating. Imagine being the master of your own gender, aving limitless sexual, educational and emotional options to be who you are meant to be, rather than be restricted by social expectations."

This mother believes that what may "seem" to be gender-based behavour traits is really a manifestation of our own gender expectations. She is open to ending the "experiment" whenever it seems right for Charlie.

What do you think of this idea? Of raising your child as neither boy nor girl?
